Missing You!  / Monie Rehkop (Aunt)

I miss you so much!  Things are quite different without you, not nearly as much fun.  One of my funnest times ever was the "Big and Rich" concert will all you kids.  I can still hear you shouting, Turn it up Aunt Monie!  Your life was way too short, but what a full life it was, you experienced so much in your 17 years.

Missing you always,

Love Aunt Monie

I still think of Ben frequently especially when I hear certain songs such as those he danced to with my Gold Dusters.  I tell my current students about Ben as well as Josh Royer and Kevin Foster with hope that they will learn to treasure the time they have with each other.  These boys touched my life in ways I can never express fully.  I will always remember them.  LeeAnne Stevens Close

I still remember when Ben and I were younger and we used to be at each others houses all the time. Ben and Lee always had the coolest new toys. I still can' t believe that he's gone. Ben never met a stranger and was always up for doing something, anything crazy! The summers that we all spent growing up together while going to kids corner. I remember one time when we were all sitting down in a circle at kids corner talking and Ben was playing with this quarter and he kept putting it in his mouth and Teacher Tami kept telling him that he better quit he was going to choke on it. Well Ben decided that he was not going to stop and sure enough, what happend, Ben choked on the quarter until Teacher Tami came to resucue and saved him. Sometimes he was a little hard headed but who isn't. I wish he was still around today because I know that he made a big impression on a lot of lives in a very good way. I miss him and will never forget him.

How do you put into words what someone like Ben meant to you? How do you try to explain it. Ben was the type of person to always make someones day. There were so many times when i just wanted to be alone and Ben would come and get me and him and I would just go for a drive and we didn't even have to say anything but he would listen if you needed to talk. Ben was the type of person that even if he didn't agree with you, he still supported you, like taking you at 3:00 in the morning just to wish a stupid guy happy new years. Ben was always there and loved you unconditionally. As i look back i still can't believe it and its been over 2 years. I start to think its not fair, how are we so unlucky to loose someone like that. Then it hits me, we were the the lucky ones. We had 17 AMAZING and UNFORGETABLE memories with a great guy. Now Ben's the lucky one..he gets to sit up there and look down on us everyday. Ben, never forget how much i loved you and how much you will be missed every single day and i know that one day we will all see ya again with that big grin on your face. Thank you for everything that you always did for me. My life wouldn't have been the same without you in it, i think everyone would say the same.  I love you and i will always!!

Only four years before Ben entered high school, I walked through the same hallways at Fredericktown  as Ben did.  In that time I was big into public speeking.  I gave several speeches and won many awards.  I had the opportunity to speek in front of large crowds with some important people in attendance.  But on the night of Ben's memorial service, I was speechless.  I didn't know what to say to my friends, to my family, and most of all what to say to my aunt and uncle.  I had these pictures of Ben in my mind but they were all of Ben laughing and carrying on the way he always did.  I didn't know if that is what I should say.  But here I set over two years later and I still see the same pictures.  The last thing Ben would do is put a frown on your face.  The last thing Ben would do is leave you standing alone in a room full of strangers.  I still don't know if these are the right words but they are my words, and this is my Ben.  I baby sat for Ben for several years and as Ben got bigger so did his heart.  I pray now that my two year old son will grow up to have that same love for life, and people that Ben had.  It's funny how the older cousin looks up to the yournger cousin, but that is exactly what I do. Then and now.

We remember Ben, when we ride our bikes and play guitar, when we think back on church activities, all the times he made sure to wave and smile at us from his truck, how handsome he was on his prom-night! Ben's great love of critters...big and small, his cowboy hat, him on his little pony, Cindy, and his time working in Colorado.  So much to remember...so glad we were a part of his life.  We will see Ben again someday!  Till then.....Faith, Hope, and Love will see us through.  Love you Kim....Jug, Dee Dee, Wil and Wes Close
